A Garden Year With Nordwolle
In an ancient farm in the middle of rural Vorpommern everywhere you look, all you see is fields very large fields. In autumn, thousands of cranes rest here. The Peene River runs in a north-easterly direction and to see it you have to cross one of these fields. But then there is pure silence, the silence of nature.
It is the connection to nature that the two young women have sought and found there. They live according to the seasons, depend on the weather and that makes their lives happy.
Anna's great-grandparents lived and farmed here in the 1920s and 1940s. However, when the LPGs (Agricultural Production Cooperatives) came into being during the GDR (German Democratic Republic) times in the 1950s, her grandparents, who owned the farm at that time, were completely dispossessed. All the fields that the family had farmed until then were assigned to the LPG and they had to work for it. What was left of the farm was then only sufficient for private provision.
There are many fruit trees on the 5000 square metres, there is a home for the chickens and plenty of space for vegetable beds and a greenhouse built from old windows. From the vegetable patch Claudia and Anna can almost provide for themselves. The garden yields so much that preserving food for winter storage is also quite feasible. Anna has acquired the knowledge needed to tend such a large garden almost exclusively through self-tuition, what she learned from her grandmother were at best the basics.
Since the couple's wish is to practice permaculture, they had to think and learn completely from scratch. On the farm, everything happens in a cycle - according to a chain of recyclables. The chickens droppings fall on straw then the manure is collected and applied to the vegetable beds as natural fertiliser. In this way, the soil gets back the nutrients that the chickens have absorbed while pecking.

I HAVE GAINED A GREATER ACCEPTANCE FOR THE NATURAL RENUNCIATION, FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN WE NO LONGER HAVE TOMATOES OR WHEN THE CHICKENS ARE MOULTING AND THEN DON'T LAY ANY EGGS. AFTER ALL, THAT'S WHAT NATURE HAS ARRANGED".
CLAUDIA
To strengthen the feeling of being close to nature even when gardening, both of them tested our products for a year. Up until now, their style of clothing for gardening was mainly shaped by what friends and acquaintances no longer needed and could wear them out and get dirty. So at the beginning, the girls found it difficult to use their Nordwolle pieces for this purpose.
THE JACKET FOR GIRLS
Anna loves the lightness of her HOLLE, which gives her pleasant warmth especially in spring and autumn. A protective top layer for any weather, whether picking apples or sowing and harvesting vegetables. Claudia also likes it when working in the greenhouse in winter.
THE UNISEX HOODIE
In the meantime, however, Claudia loves to use her RUGIEVIT for observation walks on the property to see how things are going. Are all the trees still safe? How many slugs are feasting on our courgette plants? In it, they are well protected from wind and rain, and even on longer walks around the property they are not cold.
THE VEST
For activities like digging potatoes or chopping wood, our HERTHA is best suited. Warm, but full of freedom of movement, it's wonderful to work very actively in the garden.
